Advocacy & Volunteering: ABCD Project

Leeds has a rich history of asset-based working, with a focus in investing in Neighbourhood Networks, implementing restorative practises with Children’s Services, and adopting a strengths-based approach in Adult Social Care. ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) is an integral part of this approach, empowering the city’s residents to feel more connected and fostering thriving communities.

Our charity embraces the principles of ABCD, building upon the strong foundation that has been established locally and gaining recognition on national levels. As part of our commitment to promoting ABCD, we initiated the Council’s ABCD Community Pathfinder Scheme. Over the past six years, this initiative has shown promising results, including improved health and well-being, reduced loneliness, and decreased social isolation among residents in the targeted communities.

Through ABCD, citizens have united to create positive change, addressing issues they care deeply about, and forming meaningful connections within their communities. We firmly believe that focusing on the strengths and assets of each community is the key to sustainable community development. Join us in our journey to create stronger, more connected, and thriving communities in Leeds.
